What if you never had to think of another content idea again? As a business owner, this is my dream. When you start podcasting you have an infinite amount of content right at your fingertips every week, but you need to know how to use it! From social media posts to blogs, emails, and beyond, the possibilities to extend the life and influence of your episodes are endless. This week I’m walking you through the strategy I use to optimize the genius of podcasting and never run out of content again.
1. Repurposing Your Podcast as Outreach
This actually happened this week! I received a message from someone on LinkedIn saying “Hey, I saw you interacting with Mel Robbins, I’ve had the opportunity to interview her and you might enjoy listening! I’d like to connect.”
Wow, what a great way to make an introduction, flex your network and send out an invitation to someone that might become a future listener of your show. While you might not have had the opportunity to interview a big name like Mel Robbins (YET) you will have relevant episodes you can share instead and let them know why you think this episode might help their business!
2. How to Repurpose Your Content on Social Media
LinkedIn: Business is all about connecting. Podcasting allows you to connect with endless people at once. By creating a graphic that quickly shares the value of your episode or highlights your featured guest you’re able to take quotes from your episode and share bite sized pieces of wisdom with your audience and bring awareness for your podcast. Always be sure to tag anyone involved in the podcast and share a link to the episode.
Instagram and Facebook: Whether you have video content or not, you have endless options for creating content on Instagram and Facebook. Like LinkedIn, be sure to optimize what you’re posting and have a clear call to action for listeners. Double check you’ve properly tagged your location, anyone involved, you’re adding hashtags and descriptions where necessary.
3. Repurposing Beyond Traditional Social Media
Reddit: Share your content in relevant communities, but tread carefully. Redditors value genuine contributions above all else and have more guidelines than traditional social media.
Pinterest: Don’t underestimate this platform’s power. Pinterest can significantly extend the reach of your content over time, unlike the quick lifespan of posts on other social media.
4. Blogging Your Podcast for SEO
If you’re not turning each podcast episode into a blog post, you’re missing out on a huge opportunity to boost your Google ranking and drive traffic to your website. Blogging is an invaluable tool for improving SEO, and your podcast provides ready-made content that can easily be converted into useful blog posts for your listeners to reference.
5. Repurposing Your Podcast for Email Marketing
Yes, crafting email campaigns can be daunting, but your podcast offers a fresh and engaging way to reconnect with your list. Share episode highlights, ask for feedback, or use the space to promote other aspects of your business or website. Your podcast can breathe new life into your email marketing efforts, turning it from a chore into an exciting opportunity to engage with your audience.
Repurposing your podcast content isn’t just about saving time on social media posts; it’s about amplifying your message, extending your podcast reach, and deepening connections with your audience. Each episode you produce is a treasure trove of content, ready to be adapted, shared, and enjoyed in countless new ways.
